Bean There Coffeehouse

We are a locally owned and operated coffee house serving freshly-roasted specialty coffees, tasty beverages & delicious treats DAILY.  

Bean There is an independently owned and operated coffeehouse now with two convenient locations in Hampton Roads.  Our flagship store is in the heart of downtown Norfolk directly across from MacArthur Mall and beside MacArthur Square light rail stop.  Throughout the years, Bean There has become a well-known stomping ground for coffee aficionados and locals who seek a higher standard for their coffee consumption…in other words, this isn’t another fast food chain or restaurant that happens to sell coffee.  Bean There is a true west-coast style coffeehouse that participates in latte art competitions, US barista training & is locally recognized as the Best of Hampton Roads and Retailer of the Year for Norfolk.

While offering pastries, desserts, teas, beer, wine and other tasty treats the focus of Bean There is (and always will be) the coffee.  And similar to a wine rating scale, only coffees rated above 81 points are served.

What sets Bean There apart?  The coffees are served in ceramic mugs when ordered for in-house consumption to preserve the integrity of the experience & save trees, teas are prepared one cup at a time, cappuccinos and machiattos are served like you’d have in Italy, beverage recipes are taken to heart & prepared with specific intention for the coffee, and ordering your coffee ‘frapped’ or as we simply say, ‘blended’, while do-able it is not encouraged.

Aside from the amazing beverages, Bean There upholds a community-centric approach to business hosting events such as open mic poetry nights,  family themed days, live acoustic music, book signings, art shows, wine tastings, go-green initiatives, coffee ‘cupping’ classes and charity coffee-for-a-cause events to name a few.

While just getting started setting up roots in Virginia Beach, we hope to foster and spread the love for coffee while taking steps to minimize our carbon footprint & support the independent business community.  We hope you will notice the difference & find what you love about coffee & Bean There!
